Field Support & Mentoring

Before you even begin your training, you are assigned a mentor who will be with you every step of the way. You will also meet with your regional leader - the person responsible for the health and growth of a geographic region of Financial Advisors. Additionally, you will be assigned to a Success Team consisting of 10 to 12 trainees, one academic leader and one veteran Financial Advisor. This proactive mentoring program has had proven results, providing tremendous continuity and immediate support.

A personal assistant who works only for you
Our headquarters recruiting team will help you hire your own full-time Branch Office Assistant (BOA) and Edward Jones will pay his or her salary and benefits and provide training. Your BOA will handle service and administration issues freeing you up to concentrate on the crucial tasks of advising clients and growing the business.

You and your BOA will work as a team. Over the years, our clients have often expressed how enjoyable and helpful they find our BOAs to be. Known for their welcoming manner and passion for helping people, BOAs assist clients with real needs. They're trained in the field and are responsible for keeping up to date with the firm's administrative and service goals. They can set up appointments and answer questions regarding client’s account statement. And they're trained to do it all with a level of professionalism and personal care that every client deserves.

Regional Support
When you join Edward Jones, you will be assigned to a region and introduced to your regional leader. Assigned by firm's senior managers, the regional leader is a highly successful, well-respected, veteran Financial Advisor who volunteers his or her time to advance the overall health and growth of a geographic region. This includes overseeing the acclimation of new Financial Advisors to Edward Jones as well as coordinating regional events and meetings where Financial Advisors come together to share ideas and encouragement and learn from everyone’s successes.

As an individual Financial Advisor, you do not report to your regional leader. They are not regional managers. They are fellow Financial Advisors, who, like you, are committed to running their own ethical, profitable and professional business.

Many regional events at Edward Jones include spouses and family. Financial Advisors and their families often meet for both work-related events and non-work-related gatherings such as summer picnics and holiday celebrations.

Mentors
The Edward Jones culture is unique in the financial services industry. Financial Advisors here do not feel in direct competition with each other. In fact, the opposite is true. Everyone here wishes and works for others to succeed because success for one leads to success for all. Soon after you are hired, you will be matched up with established veterans from your region who volunteer their time to work with you and assist you throughout your initial training and beyond. Typically, a single Financial Advisor will emerge as your mentor - a role that becomes more of a lifetime position because the two people involved oftentimes become lasting friends. In your first few months, you may spend considerable time in your mentor’s branch office learning and observing how he or she does business.

Field Trainers
As part of your initial training, you will be assigned to a veteran Financial Advisor who will serve as your field trainer. You will spend time in their branch office observing how your field trainer and branch office assistant run their business, nurture prospects and service clients. This experience will also give you valuable insight into time-management, prioritization skills and office administration as they pertain to the Edward Jones business model.

You will likely spend time observing in your mentor’s branch office as well. This is valuable opportunity in that it provides two unique perspectives in how to run a successful Edward Jones office.

New Financial Advisor Support Specialists
Support specialists are part of a team of regional veteran Financial Advisors who volunteer their time to assist others as they enter each new business segment of their Edward Jones career. New Financial Advisor Support Specialists call upon their years of experience and acquired industry and Edward Jones knowledge to assist, support and advise you as you continue to grow your business to the next level. Typically, you can expect to meet with your support specialist(s) at least once a month and they are always accessible via telephone and e-mail.
