What did you do before Edward Jones?
I was a stay at home mom for six years. Prior to that, I worked for about 10 years doing marketing and sales for an independent adjusting claims firm.

 

How does Edward Jones compare to the companies where you previously worked?
Edward Jones is a great company to work for with the incentives and contests for employees; health benefits; compensation opportunities in profit sharing, limited partnership offerings, financial advisor and firm bonuses; advancement potential to financial advisor or home-office staff; technological adaptation; and the longevity and loyalty of the firm and its employees.

 

What does it take to be a successful branch office administrator at Edward Jones?
Being organized and proactive, having the ability to multi-task, providing customer service, being a good listener and executing clients’ needs efficiently and effectively according to the financial advisor and branch plan.

 

What is it like to work in a two-person (three-person) office?
It's great working in a three-person office. You have a small company feel with your local branch team and clients, but you still have the support and colleagues in your region and home office. 
What kinds of things do you do every day to help the clients?
Our office has standard procedures we do every day for clients, and then things can change for us, depending on the clients' needs or requests. I love the spontaneity and complexity the job can bring every day with one client's phone call. We consistently provide all aspects of customer and financial service to clients' accounts at our branch.

 

What kinds of things do you do every day to help your financial advisor build the business?
We work as a team in our office, and our personalities and work ethic are used together to provide our clients with the best possible service we can give them each day.

 

Describe a memorable experience with a client that encapsulates or typifies what it’s like to work for Edward Jones.
I had called one of our clients, and she asked me to hold on while she got her dogs out of her lap. I asked her what kind of dogs she had, and she said, "Two mini-dachshunds." I told her I had one who was very old, and I didn't know what I was going to do when he passed since he had been around my kids' entire life. She then told me the breeder they used to get their dogs just had a litter of puppies available. She had the breeder call me, I saw the puppies with my kids, and I ended up buying two puppies! I'm so grateful I got the pups because my older dog ended up passing away within a year. Whenever I talk to the client now, we get an update on how our “related” breeder dogs are doing.

 

What kind of support do you get from the home office?
The home-office support is wonderful! They are so helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. If they don't know an answer, they will find a solution through another co-worker, department or team leader. We can access home-office help through a variety of ways: the “Learning Site” or short videos on JonesLink, Service Request, or a call in to the office – each easily filling the role of extra help in our busy day.

 

What’s the most important part of your day as a BOA?
Knowing that we are part of a team helping take care of our clients' financial future not only for themselves but also for their immediate extended family and their beneficiaries.
