Training and Your Support Network

Training to help you succeed

We know that the quality of our associates and their dedication to serving our clients play a large part in our overall success. Another contributing factor is the level of commitment we show our associates in return. At Edward Jones, we do all we can to make sure our associates can continually thrive and be able to reach their full potential. This includes a strong commitment to associate mentoring and training programs that have been singled out as among the industry's best by many independent sources.

As a BOA, you'll undergo a comprehensive online training program designed to help you become familiar with the securities industry and to help you understand your daily responsibilities at your branch office. In addition, you'll receive extensive support from our fully-staffed headquarters locations. There are also mentoring programs and a regional support structure all designed to help you continually grow both personally and professionally.

Exceptional online and hands-on training

Your learning consists of more than just online training courses. The training curriculum has been specifically designed to meet the needs of a new BOA who is learning about the job's responsibilities, the firm and the individual branch.
There are three components to the yearlong BOA Trainee Program:
  • First, you will be assigned a Development Specialist in the home office who will be in regular contact with you and your Financial Advisor throughout your program. These coaching contacts will help you and your Financial Advisor work toward building a strong branch team.
  • Second, you will be assigned a mentor, another BOA in the region, who will share his or her experiences. This individual will help you become acclimated to your new firm and your new career.
  • Finally, you will be assigned learning plans, which include online courses, activities and knowledge checks. The learning plans are designed to spread out your training over your first year.

After you complete the initial training, there are elective courses you may take to develop your knowledge and skills. You are encouraged to seek ongoing performance improvement regularly.
