Q: What did you do before joining Edward Jones? A: I was with a large financial organisation in a field-based role giving investment advice direct to customers. Q: What attracted you to Edward Jones? A: I was very impressed with how Edward Jones is committed to its people. As a new Financial Adviser, you’re guaranteed a salary for the first year and they never ask for any financial outlay. Q: How did you find the training? A: I thought it was exceptional. We were warned that it would be extensive and rigorous, and it was. What I liked most was that the training was tailored to take my experience and qualifications into account. In addition to bringing us all up to speed on subjects like securities and regulations, we also received sales training too. I found that aspect to be especially useful. Q: What’s the working atmosphere like? A: I started training in early 2005 and was authorised to sell at the beginning of April, and already I feel that working here has really brought me to life. I’m accountable only for myself, and how I work, how I go about my job, is entirely up to me. I really enjoy that freedom. I’ve come here to make a success of this. I’m in control of my future. I thrive on that. Q: What does the future hold? A: My aim in the next two years is to grow my business as much as possible. After that, my goal is to continue working hard, advising my clients, and achieve partnership in the firm.
