Obtaining Your Industry Qualifications

Full Support While You Study
To become licensed as a Financial Adviser and Stockbroker, Edward Jones is required by the FSA to ensure that Financial Advisers have appropriate qualifications to carry out their activities. The Financial Services Skills Council list state that the Certificate in Investments (Securities) and the Certificate in Financial Planning are appropriate when advising and dealing in securities and making recommendations on packaged products (e.g. unit trusts).

Preparation for these exams is provided through our Study for Success course, which is tailored to suit individuals from a variety of backgrounds. It is therefore not a requirement that you have financial services experience prior to embarking on a Financial Adviser career with Edward Jones.

During this part of the training programme, you will receive a base salary.

Everything you need to succeed
Study for Success is an 11 week learning programme. About a quarter of that time will be spent in London doing classroom and workshop based study. The rest of the programme will involve home study.

The course integrates technical information on life assurance, pensions, financial regulation, and, advising and dealing in securities. To ensure you pass all the examinations within each qualification the first time, we provide you with comprehensive study materials to assist you in addition to the face to face training courses. These include practice tests, a laptop computer and printer, CD-ROM presentations and a series of mailings to pass the Certificate in Investments (Securities) and the Certificate in Financial Planning first time.

Preparation for the exams is challenging and must be taken very seriously. Typically, trainees commit to 45 hours of study each week over the eleven-week period in preparation for the exams. An organised study plan will be provided to ensure the volume of material is manageable. An Edward Jones Study for Success Trainer will also work closely with you throughout the course and monitor your progress.
