Investing in Our Employees

We realise that the quality of our associates and their dedication to serving our clients play a large part in our overall success. Another contributing factor is the level of commitment we show in return. At Edward Jones, we do all we can to make sure our associates are rewarded for their efforts, can continually succeed and are able to reach their full potential.

Fueling Your Career Advancement
It seems to us that most businesses realise how critical employee development is, yet for too many reasons they don’t invest enough time, money or effort into training and growth opportunities. This, in turn, causes employees to underperform or remain unfulfilled and far less effective for far too long. That is not the case at Edward Jones. We know that by making a concerted effort to train and develop our associates, it pays off for the firm in excellent client service, profits, healthy growth, talented leaders and a stronger position in the marketplace.

At Edward Jones, you will find that we have made associate mentoring part of the very fabric of our culture, and our commitment to training has been singled out as among the best in the industry as evidenced by our high rankings in Training magazine’s Top 100 edition for the last six years. In fact, if training costs were a capital investment instead of an expenditure, developing our associates’ careers would show up as the firm’s largest investment by a tremendous margin every year.

  • In 2005, it was reported that Edward Jones associates received an average of 98 hours of training each, at a cost equivalent to about 2.8% of the firm’s payroll.

An Ongoing Commitment
After your initial training is complete, additional training, leadership and development opportunities are available and encouraged throughout your career. For example, if you work at our headquarters, there’s an entire suite of leadership development courses available, and if you’re one of our Financial Advisers, you can take advantage of “track training” that enables you to specialise in a particular business area such as financial planning, retirement planning, business management or equities later in your career. There is also a series of management courses specifically designed for Edward Jones at Harvard and the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University in California.

Bare in mind that ongoing education isn’t restricted solely to Edward Jones training courses. Tuition reimbursement is available for anyone interested in working toward an undergraduate or post graduate degree. In addition, we also offer family leave, full benefits, profit sharing and the opportunity for ownership in the firm.

We strongly believe that in order to continue to attract and retain a high-calibre, diverse group of associates, it is vital that they feel good about what they are doing and where they are going. For this reason, we will continue to invest heavily in all our associates’ futures and continue to offer challenging, rewarding careers that allow everyone to enjoy everything his or her work and life have to offer.
