Tailored Training

When you join Edward Jones, you will undergo initial training customized to your background and level of experience. This individualized training is designed to help you get your Edward Jones business up and running as quickly as possible.

Limited Experience
If you are licensed to sell mutual funds and variable annuities, but have limited business development experience, you will likely spend one week training in St. Louis or Tempe. This training will help you develop a better understanding of the securities business, our firm’s philosophy and way of doing business, clients and their needs, and key investments. There is also an introduction to important applications of the Edward Jones systems.

This will most likely be followed by seven weeks of hands-on training in a branch office, followed by an additional week in St. Louis or Tempe. The determination of which training process best suits you will ultimately be based on your individual qualifications, background and experience.

Moderate Experience
If you are a current Series 7 licensed broker who has a trailing 12-month gross production of less than $150,000, you should expect to spend one week training in St. Louis or Tempe. This training will help you develop a deeper understanding of the securities business, clients and their needs, and key investments, as well as further educate you about the firm’s philosophy and way of doing business. There is also an introduction to important applications of the Edward Jones systems. Based upon your individual background and experience, you will also attend specialized breakout sessions.

Next, you most likely will spend seven weeks training from your home or in a branch office, followed by one week in St. Louis or Tempe, where you will again participate in special breakout sessions based on your unique experience and background. During your initial training period, you will have the ability to place orders, and you will be given ample time to contact, serve and transfer your existing clients to your Edward Jones business when you’re not involved in training sessions.

Considerable Experience
If you are a current Series 7 licensed broker who has a trailing 12-month gross production of $150,000 or more, you might qualify for an accelerated two-day training course in St. Louis. This course will further educate you about the Edward Jones business model and investment philosophy, as well as provide compliance and systems training.
