Q: What led you to the Financial Advisor opportunity with Edward Jones? A: Prior to coming to Edward Jones, I had spent 20 years in corporate America. I was pretty discouraged by what I was seeing happening and how resources were not being utilized efficiently to make money. I wanted to get out and start my own business. A friend had heard of Edward Jones, and we went to an information session. I asked a lot of questions and quickly realized this was an opportunity for me to run my own business without putting in my own money. Q: What does being a part of Edward Jones mean to you? A: For me it was about being associated with the best. What I found out about Edward Jones was that it was a fit for me that was clearly head and shoulders above everybody else. It’s the first organization I’ve come in contact with that truly treats the client as No. 1. It really is all about integrity and client service here. I like the fact that I can look clients in the eye and honestly say that they come first with Edward Jones. Q: How did your salary in corporate America compare with the compensation structure at Edward Jones? A: In my corporate job, it didn’t matter how much money I made for the company, I still earned the same salary. It seemed ridiculous to me. If you believe in the market and capitalism, you cannot walk away from this kind of opportunity with Edward Jones. Now, for the first time in my life, I feel I’m paid for what I’m worth. Q: What traits does it take to be successful at Edward Jones? A: It comes down to your desire to do well. Edward Jones will teach you everything you need to know to be successful. They’ll teach you about the investments. They’ll tell you how to take care of clients and all the regulations. If you are willing to stretch your comfort zone, then you’ll be very successful here. Q: What is the best thing about your role as an Edward Jones Financial Advisor? A: I come in every day, and it’s my name on the door. And as I help clients build their wealth, I see how they’re not only enjoying their lifestyle more, but also able to leave something for their children. So to answer the question, I’d have to say it’s knowing that what I do really matters.
