“I love what I’m doing. And the longer I’m in here, the more I am convinced that this is something I will enjoy more and more as time progresses.”

Q: What did you do before coming to Edward Jones, and how did you get started?
A: I was in the food industry for 12 years, and I worked my way up in the company. In five years, I made it to vice president, and I held that position for about seven years. But it came to a point where I felt that I had hit the ceiling, and there was no other way for me to move.

Q: How did you find out about Edward Jones?
A: After I applied online, I spoke to a gentleman from the home office in St. Louis. I had never heard of the company, so he talked to me about Edward Jones. At first I wasn’t interested because the company was based in St. Louis. But he persuaded me to check out the Web site, and when I did it was like something went on inside of me – it was a gut feeling. Something perked up my interest because of how the business is conducted. You’re able to become an entrepreneur without shelling out your own money. You’re servicing the community. You’re giving back to people. It convinced me that this was for me – a company I could stay with for the rest of my career.

Q: What can you tell us about the training?
A: The training at Edward Jones is not easy. The training for the Series 7 licensing exam was actually the easiest part of the training for me, but it’s definitely challenging. I did all the activities, sought out prospects and went to meet them face to face. I tried to exceed at all the recommended practices because I knew I could do it. I think the great thing about this organization is that every Financial Advisor has gone through the same activities and dealt with the same hardships and issues. So you know it can be done, and you try to surpass that.

Q: How would you describe your career progression with Edward Jones?
A: I love what I’m doing. And the longer I’m in here, the more I am convinced that this is something I will enjoy more and more as time progresses. When you’re a mother with children who depend on you, that’s your calling. Now it seems like I have another calling. Now my clients depend on me. So it’s like a new responsibility I have to them.

Q: How do you feel about working for Edward Jones compared to how you felt about working for other companies?
A: Before Edward Jones I worked hard, but I was very tired and not happy. Now with Edward Jones, not only am I satisfied, but my husband is happy, too. He supports me in everything I do, and because I’m so happy, he’s happy.
