Obtaining Your Securities License

We Pay You While You Study
To become licensed to sell securities, state and federal laws require that all Financial Advisors pass the General Securities Registered Representative Examination (Series 7) and a Uniform Combined State Law Examination (Series 66). Some states require the Series 24. Preparation for these exams is provided by our proprietary Study for Success program. Edward Jones is a recognized leader in training new Financial Advisors.

Everything You Need to Succeed
Study for Success is a 8-week home-study course. You will study full time and be compensated on a biweekly basis. We provide you with comprehensive study materials, practice tests, a laptop computer and printer, videotapes and a series of mailings to help you along the way. These materials cover everything you need to know in order to pass the Series 7 and 66 exams. In addition, an Edward Jones Study for Success Trainer will work closely with you and monitor your progress throughout your home-study program. A training team will be available to provide coaching and answer questions related to the Series 7 material.

At first review, the volume of information may seem overwhelming. Preparation for the Series 7 exam is challenging and must be taken very seriously. It is more difficult than the real estate licensing exam but not the equivalent to sitting for CPA or bar examinations. Trainees commit a minimum of 45 hours of study each week over a two-month period in preparation for the exam. With an organized and committed study plan, you will find the information manageable. Historically, nearly 90 out of 100 Edward Jones trainees pass the examination, compared with 66% for the rest of the industry. You have one chance to pass the exam; failure to pass it is generally caused by insufficient study time. You must pass these tests to become an Edward Jones Financial Advisor.
