Commissions         
This department ensures that all Financial Advisors' commissions are processed in a timely and accurate manner for transmission to Payroll on a monthly basis and ensures that all necessary journal entries are recorded within the appropriate accounting period.

Key Qualifications Include:

Financial Advisor Compensation and Reporting        
Associates in this department oversee the monthly process and controls associated with the compensation for Financial Advisors in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., the day-to-day management of the firm's Financial Advisor marketing pools and local CPE events, and the coordination and management of the diversification and regional meeting trip taxation process.

Partnership Accounting         
Overall responsibilities of this department include: delivering excellent service by providing partners with information and friendly support; answering incoming phone calls and Service Requests from partners relating to their investment in the firm; recording partnership capital buys and sells; allocating net income and distributing earnings to partners; reporting partnership information both internally and externally; and supporting partnership taxation.

Payment Controls         
This department ensures the integrity of the business expense plan by verifying that information submitted through Paybills meets firm guidelines and policies, supports PeopleSoft vendor approval process to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices received in Accounts Payable, and coordinates processes involving other departments, including reconciliation of various files loaded into the PeopleSoft system.

Sourcing Office              
Associates in this department lead the firm's Sourcing initiatives in partnership with all divisions in the most efficient and effective manner by providing the best sourcing experience possible, understanding the business and communicating the impact of Edward Jones' sourcing decisions, and developing relationships with stakeholders in all divisions.

Tax Management         
Tax Management associates timely and accurately file all income tax returns as well as required quarterly estimated tax payments, keep abreast and analyze current tax law and new tax pronouncements, and minimize the partnership and principal’s overall tax liability by identifying and implementing tax savings opportunities.

  • Technical tax research and analysis skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and tax accounting skills, including familiarity with FAS 109

  • Project management skills

Tax Reporting          
This department ensures the timely and accurate filing of tax compliance required by all applicable jurisdictions, identifies tax opportunities and exposure items in order to optimize savings and limit risk to the firm, manages the monthly tax accrual process, and supports other departments by providing tax research, support and advice.

This department oversees the firm’s liquidity management, risk management, and financial management.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Knowledge of Accounting, Finance and Banking

Regulatory & Operational Reporting         
Functions of this department include reporting the firm's financial condition under regulatory guidelines, working with other areas to ensure compliance with financial regulations, and coordinating reconciliation and control over the firm's operating systems, including ADP and Tarot.

  • Knowledge of GAAP

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Extremely proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook

This department provides service globally to headquarters associates and vendors, measures, analyzes and communicates monthly service drivers to key leaders, and drive solutions of volume drivers.

Divisional Financial Analysis         
As an associate in this department, you could perform and present financial analysis, process work flows, vendor analysis, etc. to facilitate the decision making process, develop business cases to identify potential solutions, and quantify the financial impact of those solutions, or provide divisional reporting that is metric driven, actionable and timely to influence decisions.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting/finance or operational finance experience, with increasing responsibilities during that time

  • Proven leadership, excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, and strong financial and quantitative analysis skills

  • Self starter with strong prioritization skills on deliverables

  • Ability to work independently and influence other areas

  • MBA/CPA preferred

Asset Management         
Asset Management ensures that financial statement information related to fixed assets is accurate and details to support financial statements are communicated to other areas, performs reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, enhances the firm's business decisions related to fixed assets by providing key measure analyses of fixed asset activity, and leverages existing systems to automate the asset management environment to meet firm needs.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience with PeopleSoft a plus

Financial Reporting         
Associates in this department record, analyze, and internally and externally report on the firm's results from operations and financial condition, work with other areas within Finance and throughout the firm to improve processes, controls and accrual methods to ensure adequate controls are in place over Financial Reporting, and coordinate with internal and external auditors to review processes, procedures, and recorded balances to ensure they are accurately stated and sufficient controls are in place to remain compliant with Sarbanes Oxley.

Administrative Services         
This department consists of the following:

Mail Services - providing all associates with quality mail distribution and assembly services. Distribution Services - providing quality, timely and accurate distribution of supplies to the firm including the production and distribution of training materials.

Output Services - providing high quality, cost-effective print and duplication services, as well as automated mail processing.

Physical Security - protecting the assets of the firm through the implementation of a comprehensive security plan.

Dining Services – providing a high quality food service program including catering, cafeteria, vending, and refreshment services.

Canada Administrative Services - providing all Canadian headquarters and branch associates with quality mail service, distribution/fulfillment, printing, assembly, security and food services.

U.K. Administrative Services - provides all U.K. headquarters and branch associates with quality mail service, distribution/fulfillment, printing, assembly, security and food services.
