Division Description
Our Marketing Division is a member of the Edward Jones Client Solutions Group, which strives to understand the needs and wants of our clients in order to provide the solutions to help them achieve their financial goals. Other divisions in the Client Solutions Group include Edward Jones Trust Company*, Equities and Fixed Income Trading, Investment Banking, Managed Investments and Packaged Solutions, Research, and Retirement Plan Marketing and Financial Assessment.

Edward Jones currently has more than 11,000 branch offices in North America, and we have aggressive plans to reach 17,500 branches within the next four years. As owners of the Edward Jones brand, associates within our Marketing division work toward advancing our brand awareness while creatively and effectively communicating the core values of the firm to the general public every day.

As a Marketing professional here, you will work closely with our Products and Services division to create and improve client acquisition marketing strategies for our vast network of Financial Advisors. Overall responsibilities include devising, coordinating and implementing broadcasts, as well as advertising and communications materials, executing qualitative and quantitative survey research for clients and prospects, and planning and facilitating client education/acquisition events and seminars.

Associate Communications    
This department leads the integration and coordination of the firm's internal communications strategies, resulting in stronger associate engagement, stronger internal brand awareness and the reinforcement of our culture, values and history.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Ability to execute internal communications programs in support of firm and division objectives 

     
  • Strategic communications planning

     
  • Familiarity with principles of graphic design, online communications and print production processes

     
  • Deep understanding of the branding objective, positioning strategy and ongoing market initiatives

Creative Services    
Creative Services associates are called on to enhance the Edward Jones brand globally through the development and delivery of effective, integrated marketing communications. Overall responsibilities include the firm's global marketing communications, including ads, newsletters, brochures, direct mailers, etc. This department also produces our "Investing in Action" broadcasts, as well as our "Uptick Live" internal news program.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Several unique roles within Creative Services department require a variety of technical skills and experience including: graphic design and production art; copy writing, editing and proofreading; script writing and video production

Key Referral Center    
The goal of this department is to create opportunities to build and deepen referral based relationships. Associates design and implement programs that place Financial Advisors in front of tax and legal professionals in their communities, design and implement Satellite and live programs offering continuing education credits for CPAs, attorneys and Certified Financial Planners, and produce a Professional Brochure Series and technical journals for key referrals with up-to-date tax and legal information. The Center also maintains a dedicated public website in the U.S. and Canada, www.edwardjones.com/teamwork, which is devoted to the unique needs of tax and legal professionals.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Strong project management experience

     
  • Experience with CPE / LPE accreditation and processing

     
  • Strong communications and relationship-building skills

     
  • Professional relationship marketing expertise required as it relates to understanding the professional marketing environment of attorneys, CPAs and other key referral sources 

Market Development    
Market Development is responsible for providing Financial Advisors with meaningful and measurable opportunities to connect with clients and prospects. The department’s overall goal is to help the firm penetrate and gain leadership positions in key growth markets.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Knowledge of marketing disciplines including: marketing communications, direct marketing, broadcast, advertising, public relations, sales promotion, database marketing, and market research

     
  • Ability to provide consulting advice to business areas regarding marketing needs/activities

     
  • Strong project management and organizational skills

     
  • Ability to develop and follow processes to ensure efficient workflow management by Marketing's functional areas

     
  • Basic knowledge of branding objectives, and positioning strategy

     
  • Thorough understanding of sales processes and activities; features/benefits of projects and services; the regulatory environment and requirements regulating marketing and selling financial products and services

     
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related study required

     
  • MBA preferred

Market Insights    
Associates in this department are responsible for identifying, designing, coordinating, and managing marketing research projects for the firm, worldwide. Research is conducted with clients, prospects, Financial Advisors, branch office administrators, and firm associates using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods. Once projects are complete an analysis and presentation of the findings are given to key stakeholders and firm leaders. The Market Insights department is also responsible for management of the firm's internal online survey tool.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Thorough knowledge of both the qualitative and quantitative marketing research methodology and sampling designs

     
  • Strong analytical skills

  • Good understanding of questionnaire design

Online Marketing Center    
Online Marketing associates assume responsibility for understanding client and branch needs in order to develop and maintain the Edward Jones website (www.edwardjones.com) and Online Account Access. The department also helps branches customize their home pages and promote their branches online. As part of Online Marketing, Marketing Technology Center associates develop the tools branches use to target groups of clients and prospects and to create customized marketing materials. This includes enhancements to List Manager and WordPower, as well as the development of new marketing-related resources on JonesLink.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Experience with online communications and strategic marketing planning

Paid Media
Paid Media associates provide direction and serve as a resource for our branches seeking advice and/or information regarding advertising objectives, strategies, tactics and opportunities they may be considering implementing, individually or collectively, in their local trade area. Paid Media also works with various agency/vendor resources to plan and execute the firm's phone directory, search engine marketing, and brand advertising programs throughout the United States, Canada and UK. Recruitment Marketing associates in the Paid Media department support the firm's growth objective by developing and implementing marketing programs that helps attract a sufficient number of qualified candidates for the Financial Advisor, branch support and headquarters positions to meet the firm's goals on a global basis.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Thorough understanding of a wide variety of media and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of each

     
  • Strong understanding of the branch business development process and related marketing/advertising activities

     
  • Understanding and experience managing external agency vendor partnerships is crucial

     
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of marketing disciplines, including creative development, online and offline media, direct marketing, market research, and web site development

Marketing Operations    
This department oversees the scheduling, trafficking and reporting of Marketing division projects, timelines and costs; manages production and supplier relationships for print and direct mail services globally; and provides our branches with online marketing materials and marketing program information through the firm's intranet, JonesLink. This department is also responsible for fielding and responding to marketing questions from our 11,000+ branch offices.

Public Relations     
This department’s main function is to pursue and create publicity in a wide range of media (international, national, regional, local and niche, as well as broadcast, electronic and print) to increase the awareness of Edward Jones among the public.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills

     
  • In depth understanding of news media and public relations

     
  • Ability to prepare press releases and media alerts

     
  • Understanding and appreciation for the strategic importance of internal and external messaging

Video Production    
As a Video Production associate, you will manage the development of video programs for marketing products and training techniques, as well as headquarters and branch office broadcasting.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • Knowledge of video production including both creative and technical requirements

     
  • Some roles require either: producer, editor, camera operation, studio and remote lighting, audio production, graphic creation and engineering experience

     
  • Excellent communications and relationship building skills required 

Direct Marketing    
This department supports Financial Advisors by developing direct mail programs designed to reach the right client with the right message at the right time. Direct Marketing also analyzes information from the data warehouse, saving branch offices time and money by recommending targeted lists and provides client database reporting to support Marketing Division decision-making process. Associates also partner with creative experts, Consumer Needs Marketing, and Marketing Operations to identify approaches that speak directly to client needs.

Key Qualifications Include:

  • High level of problem solving skills

     
  • Ability to analyze data and make actionable insights

     
  • Database Marketing: working knowledge of data architecture, SQL programming, test and control methodologies, analysis, and reporting
