Q: Describe your role within the firm.
A: I am responsible for cost management for the HQ divisions in the firm.

Q: Describe how your division contributes to the firm's success.
A: My job is to maintain the financial health of the company and participate in evaluation and execution of firmwide initiatives.

Q: What year did you start at Edward Jones? What year did you start in your current position?
A: I started as an analyst in May of 2002. I was promoted to Manager in 2004.

Q: What did you do prior to joining Edward Jones?
A: I worked for a Big 4 company – PricewaterhouseCoopers in their audit / advisory functions.

Q: Describe the culture at Edward Jones and how it’s different from your previous job. What is unique?
A: I like to see end result which is helping the individual long-term client reach their financial goals and the fact that it is reminded to us in many ways and forms. That is very unique to Edward Jones.

Q: One area Edward Jones prides itself is enabling our associates to maintain a strong work-life balance. How does this approach impact you?
A: I really like the fact that I am managed on responsibilities and not job titles. I am held accountable for delivering my end result not the time I get in or out. That kind of trust-based flexibility is very much appreciated.

Q: What does the firm being a partnership mean to you?
A: The opportunity to directly interact with a stakeholder means a lot to me. I am able to impact significant decisions being made across the firm and make a difference to the firm.

Q: Before you came to Edward Jones, what did the name mean to you? And after you came on board?
A: The name to be meant “community.” It was interesting to see the logo of the company in my community in common areas where we go routinely. Today, now that I’m here the name is part of my day to day. It also helps emphasize that investing long term to meet financial goals is a routine activity and not an event.

Q: Do you think Edward Jones has taken good care of you in terms of overall compensation package, including medical benefits, vacation time, retirement planning and salary?
A: Management has been very flexible in meeting my individual needs and I really appreciate that.

Q: Do you feel there are opportunities for advancement and greater income potential at Edward Jones?
A: I think there are plenty of opportunities for advancement depending on interest. It is also strongly encouraged by management.

Q: Do you feel you are rewarded for taking initiative and “going the extra mile” at Edward Jones?
A: I feel I am rewarded and it is recognized not just in performance appraisals, but also from a variety of in different departments.

Q: What qualities do you think a person needs to have to succeed in the home office environment?
A: I think you have to take initiative and have a great deal of self confidence. It’s our job to taking action to increase responsibility, produce results, fix problems before they exist and to feel accountable responsible for the outcome.

Q: How do you see your future at Edward Jones unfolding?
A: I think it really depends on my interests and right now I am a limited partner. I am excited to know that my future is bright.

Q: As you go through your daily activities, how do you know you’ve achieved success at Edward Jones?
A: People trust me with additional responsibilities show confidence of my performance and hence success. It’s a level of respect that makes me proud of what I’ve achieved – that to me is success.

Q: There are very few offices at Edward Jones, with nearly all the firm's leaders located in cubicals. What does this structure mean to you?
A: The open environment puts me in comfort of being approachable, and being able to approach other leaders quickly to get the job done.

Q: How has the firm supported your professional growth via training opportunities?
A: I have had the opportunity to attend the best training that we have had. Symphony, conductor, presentation classes etc. are phenomenal and I am glad the firm invests so much in associates to help them be successful.

Q: Describe the training you received when you started.
A: The new associate orientation made me feel so much at home. No company spends three full days training associates. This was an excellent way to network with other new associates and build relationships.

Q: In terms of ongoing training, are you able to use either internal or external continuing education to continue to grow your career at Edward Jones?
A: Yes. For example, the firm sent me to excel class. They also arrange for my CPE hours for the CPA license.
