Q: Describe your role within the firm. A: I train and mentor new Branch Help Desk associates. Q: Describe how your division contributes to the firm's success. A: We provide support by troubleshooting to all hardware in the branches. Q: What year did you start at Edward Jones? What year did you start in your current position? A: I began my career in July 2004 as a Service Specialist. I became a Support Specialist/Mentor in March 2006. Q: What did you do prior to joining Edward Jones? A: I attended college full-time while working in retail part-time. Q: Are there any memorable experiences you'd like to share that encapsulate or typify what it’s like to work for Edward Jones? A: I was able to assist a new Financial Advisor who was having consistent issues with his laptop setup with a new laptop and he was grateful enough to send in a wire that was escalated all the way up to the Divisional partner. He signed the wire with a comment that mentioned his thanks. It is so nice to know that we make an impact in the Financial Advisor’s daily work. Q: Describe the culture at Edward Jones and how it’s different from your previous job. What is unique? A: I think that Edward Jones is unique by encouraging internal growth and offering resources to make it possible. Q: One area Edward Jones prides itself is enabling our associates to maintain a strong work-life balance. How does this approach impact you? A: Balance is an important part of my life. Edward Jones has given me the flexibility of changing my shift to accommodate home changes. At one point my husband had a schedule change that made my shift not feasible. I was able to change to a later shift to accommodate my family. This doesn't happen at other firms. Q: Before you came to Edward Jones, what did the name mean to you? And after you came on board? A: Edward Jones meant only financial company only before. Now the name means personal relationships from home office to branch and from branch to customer. Q: Articulate the spirit of volunteerism that exists at Edward Jones. How have you been involved and what was that experience like? A: I have continued to volunteer to help with the United Way activities and I have the time to get to know people in other areas of the firm. It has also given me a way to help out in the community. Q: What qualities do you think a person needs to have to succeed in the home office environment? A: I think an individual will need to be comfortable with change to be a success at the home office. Q: There are very few offices at Edward Jones, with nearly all the firm's leaders located in cubicles. What does this structure mean to you? A: The office structure at Edward Jones gives the feeling that the team leaders are a part of the teams. They also hear what is going on and I feel they are more approachable. Q: How has the firm supported your professional growth via training opportunities? A: I have been able to take classes and job shadow to find the area that works best for my future.
