Q: Describe your role within the firm. A: I provide executive level organization and act as a filter system for the Financial Advisor recruiting general partner to relieve the partner of day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities. Q: Describe how your division contributes to the firm's success. A: In Financial Advisor recruiting we are responsible for the growth of our firm. It is our responsibility to recruit new Financial Advisors for offices all over the country. Q: What year did you start at Edward Jones? What year did you start in your current position? A: I started in this position in 2004. Q: What did you do prior to joining Edward Jones? A: Prior to joining Edward Jones I was a sales consultant for a small company in Clayton, MO. Q: Describe the culture at Edward Jones and how it’s different from your previous job. What is unique? A: To me the culture at Edward Jones is a combination of things that consist of ethical standard, partnership opportunities, training and being a family orientated company. People that work here truly care about helping each other and doing what is best for the company. Q: One area Edward Jones prides itself is enabling our associates to maintain a strong work-life balance. How does this approach impact you? A: It's nice to know that I work for a company that has compassion and they care about their associates. People here know and understand that there is life outside of the office. And they help you in different ways to make sure that you can spend time with your family and that it's important. Q: What does the firm being a partnership mean to you? A: Edward Jones has a lot of faith in its employees. Being a partnership gives me great opportunities. We are not just employees; we have the opportunity to a partner. When you think like an owner you think and feel differently about your job and the company you work for. Q: Articulate the spirit of volunteerism that exists at Jones. How have you been involved and what was that experience like? A: Recently I have had the opportunity to volunteer for a program called CERT. Certified Emergency Response Team. My experience couldn't have been better. I was able to learn new skills that might be of use to either my family and/or associates in the firm. Plus I had the chance to meet new people. Hearing the opportunities in the firm helps people get involved in things that they might have thought about doing in the past but just never did and or never knew they could. Q: What qualities do you think a person needs to have to succeed in the home office environment? A: To be an associate with Edward Jones I feel it takes a person that is organized, ethical, self starter and motivated. It's important to be able to work independently and to be flexible and willing to help others. Q: How do you see your future at Edward Jones unfolding? A: With all the opportunities in the home office I'm not sure what role I will be in but I do see myself at Edward Jones years from now. Q: There are very few offices at Edward Jones, with nearly all the firm's leaders located in cubicles. What does this structure mean to you? A: For me it's nice to know that we all work on the same team. Having the ability and freedom to work closely with the person above you is a benefit and provides great learning opportunities. Q: How has the firm supported your professional growth via training opportunities? A: We have a great training program internally that allows us to continue education and help us excel in our careers. Q: Describe the training you received when you started. A: The training programs here are very informative. When I started I had two days of training to learn the history and culture of Edward Jones. We had the opportunity to meet people within the firm at all levels. I feel that the knowledge I received in those first couple of days helped me have a better understanding of the firm was about when I started my role in recruiting. Q: In terms of ongoing training, are you able to use either internal or external continuing education to continue to grow your career at Edward Jones? A: Yes, the tuition reimbursement provides the opportunity to continue education externally. We also have an internal training center that provides continuing education for associates to advance our skills and or education.
