"I feel a greater incentive to work harder because I know that Jones will share the rewards of my contributions by offering limited or general partnership."

Q: Describe your role within the firm.
A: I help develop and support systems such as PeopleSoft, Jones Associate Connection, EJ Directory and PeopleBase in Information Systems. We support areas such as Financial Advisor Performance, HR Records, Goodknight department, Licensing, Learning Site, LOE/LDCP, etc.

Q: Describe how your division contributes to the firm's success.
A: We develop and enhance systems that assist the Financial Advisors and BOAs to be productive. We also develop systems for Home Office to automate their daily processes so that they can focus on how to make the branches more successful.

Q: What year did you start at Edward Jones? What year did you start in your current position?
A: I started with Jones in 1995. I have always been in the IS HR/Finance department. I started on the Payroll/Commissions team then went to the HR team in 1998.

Q: One area Edward Jones prides itself is enabling associates to maintain a strong work-life balance. How does this approach impact you?
A: The ability to work from home (or remotely) has really helped. Usually, when we implement a new enhancement or system, we typically do it late evening. Being able to log in from home has cut down tremendous time in having to drive in and then back home again. If I have an implementation in the evening, I don't feel that I'm taking up my whole evening to work.

Q: What does the firm being a partnership mean to you?
A: Being a partnership means that I have more invested and input in the company. I feel a greater incentive to work harder because I know that Jones will share the rewards of my contributions by offering limited or general partnership.

Q: Do you feel there are opportunities for advancement and greater income potential at Edward Jones?
A: Yes, I feel that Jones has many opportunities for career advancement! Whatever your interests are, there are always opportunities.

Q: What qualities do you think a person needs to have to succeed in the home office environment?
A: I think anything you do in Home Office, your main focus ultimately needs to be, “how am I making the branches successful.” I think no matter what department you are in, you need to have a good understanding of the industry and have a good understanding of Jones values and culture.
