- When a complex incident hits, are you the calm, methodical problem-solver who can lead triage, communicate clearly, and drive to root cause?
- Do you enjoy automating repetitive work and mentoring others so the whole team gets better?
If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
Opportunity Overview
Our Information Systems organization is responsible for the reliability, performance, and security of the firm’s infrastructure and core platforms. As a Senior Systems Administrator, you’ll design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure across compute, operating systems, storage, virtualization, identity, and core services. You’ll partner with engineering, solutions architects, external vendors, and security teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions that power our business.
What You’ll Do
- Own availability & performance: Ensure uptime and reliability of Windows/Linux server platforms, virtualization, storage, and core services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NTP, authentication/authorization).
- Design & implement solutions: Independently design, assemble, configure, install, and tune complex infrastructure components that meet business and security requirements.
- Vendor & partner coordination: Manage relationships with multiple external vendors to ensure successful delivery of production releases, patches, firmware updates, and support engagements. Coordinate schedules, validate deliverables, review technical plans, and ensure vendor work aligns with internal standards, change management processes, and reliability expectations.
- Incident leadership: Lead complex incident response and problem management; perform deep diagnostics using logs/metrics/traces; drive to root cause and long‑term fixes.
- Automation & standardization: Develop scripts and automations (e.g., PowerShell, Bash/Python) and use configuration management to reduce toil and drift.
- Lifecycle & hygiene: Own patching, vulnerability remediation, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup/restore validation, and disaster recovery exercises.
- Project delivery: Translate requirements into designs and implementation plans; develop estimates, test plans, deployment plans, runbooks, and documentation; follow the firm’s project life cycle.
- Security by design: Implement IAM/least privilege, certificate and secrets management, hardening baselines, and audit/compliance controls.
- Mentor & uplift: Provide guidance and training to peers and less experienced administrators; champion best practices and knowledge sharing.
- 24×7 readiness: Participate in an on‑call rotation; proactively monitor and respond to alerts and system messages.
What projects/work you’ll have an immediate impact on
- Platform upgrades & migrations: Modernizing server OS versions and hypervisor platforms; refreshing storage/NAS; coordinating data replications and cutovers.
- Service resilience & DR: Improving high availability, backup/restore processes, and disaster recovery testing for critical applications.
- Vulnerability & patch programs: Reducing risk through coordinated patching of Windows/Linux/VMs and middleware across environments.
- Observability uplift: Expanding monitoring, logging, and alerting to speed detection, diagnosis, and MTTR.
- Automation initiatives: Introducing/improving configuration management and provisioning pipelines to standardize builds and reduce manual work.
Hiring Minimum: $86300
Hiring Maximum: $146700
Skills/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or relevant experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in system administration or storage administration.
- Core expertise:
- Deep understanding of hardware, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), storage/replication, and networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, DNS, TCP/IP).
- Ability to develop complex technical requirements, create multiple design options, and implement high‑quality solutions within target dates.
- Proven capability to debug and correct complex infrastructure problems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Experience creating requirements, test plans, runbooks, and status reports; strong written and verbal communication with developers, vendors, leaders, and business partners.
- Track record of project estimation, walkthroughs/design reviews, and adherence to the project life cycle.
- Willingness to provide all levels of support for assigned systems, including participation in a 24×7 on‑call rotation and monitoring logs/messages.

When it comes to your
compensation,
we want to be clear.
#1 Your performance drives your compensation – and we won’t limit it with earning caps. Not now, not ever.
#2 Our compensation is competitive and multi-faceted. Commissions and trimester bonuses – based on individual branch and firm profitability – make up the bulk of your variable income. But your total payout may include travel awards and profit sharing. And the opportunity to be rewarded for transitioning client relationships to financial advisors looking to grow.
#3 Our compensation is simple and transparent. We make it easy to understand how you are rewarded and strive to minimize grid changes. You know exactly what to expect and how to impact your results.
Our partnership structure frees you to focus on your clients.
Being a partnership makes us distinctly different from our competitors. More than a structure, it’s a mindset. And it permeates every aspect of our business. From how we work with each other – think collaboration not competition – to our long-term investment philosophy. It’s most at work in our shared focus on doing what’s right for the client. And it’s easy for us to do. Because we have no competing interests. No shareholders clamoring for short-term profits. We can take the long view, because we only answer to our clients. And to ourselves. Our financial advisors find this single-minded focus freeing. A clear mandate for success. And a clear path to get there.

Transitioning your
practice is a difficult
decision.
We’re here to help.
Moving your practice to another firm may be the most stressful decision of your professional life. We understand. And our transition team is here to help.
