No prior financial services experience is necessary
More than 1,500 Edward Jones Financial Advisors have previous military experience. Our training programs are designed specifically for people who do not have a financial services background but possess the skills and competencies needed for success as a Financial Advisor. Individuals who understand the value of maximizing their efforts in exchange for greater results and rewards are a mutual fit for the role.
Training for military professionals
Our industry-leading training,* career development opportunities and network of support help military professionals increase their financial services knowledge and work toward achieving success as a Financial Advisor. Edward Jones offers tailored training programs to fit the needs and experience level of each candidate in transition. During the process, we will work with applicants to identify the appropriate program.
New Financial Advisor Training Program
Becoming a successful Financial Advisor requires comprehensive development and focused efforts to succeed. The Edward Jones development model is based on industry best practices and what we have learned from the experiences of our top branch teams at Edward Jones as well as other organizations.
Edward Jones’ training program for new Financial Advisors typically lasts approximately four months, depending on individual circumstances. Upon completion of a 10-week study-at-home program in which you prepare for your securities licenses, you will move into training programs designed to teach you how to:
- Create clients
- Serve clients
- Develop your branch team
- Improve your branch’s efficiency
Financial Advisor Career Development
The Financial Advisor Career Development program provides additional development opportunities that build on the training provided in the New Financial Advisor Training Program. It is specifically designed for people without extensive financial services or professional experience, but with the skills and competencies we look for at Edward Jones.
The Financial Advisor Career Development program typically lasts about nine months. Upon completion of a study-at-home program (during which you prepare for your securities licenses with support from a team of Study Specialists), you will transition to training designed to equip you with a broad range of knowledge, skills and hands-on experiences geared toward preparing you for a successful career as a Financial Advisor.
Once training is compete, program graduates may begin a brand-new branch location, participate in an Asset and/or Office Sharing Plan with an experienced Financial Advisor or support an existing branch.
