Lizbeth Lindley, Financial Advisor
Huntington, NY
Lizbeth Lindley loved her job as a foreign exchange trader on Wall Street, but she didn’t love her hours or commute.
“I was on the 5:48am train and got home about 7:00pm,” she recalls. “When I had my first baby, I only got about 90 minutes with her in a day before she went to bed.”
When she became pregnant with her second child, she decided not to go back to Wall Street and started interviewing with other firms. Lindley had 15 years of experience, an MBA and was job-hunting at a time when there was strong demand for women in the financial industry. She had her pick of firms, but ultimately Edward Jones offered her the most flexibility and autonomy.
“I chose to come to Edward Jones to be more present in my life with my children. My 90 minutes with first child expanded to two hours in the morning and three hours after work,” she said.
Lindley was drawn to the independence the firm provided and the ability to chart her own path. Edward Jones offers financial advisors flexibility and choice to define their success.
“I didn’t want my future dictated by a branch manager,” she said. “I’m an adult. I knew I needed to put in the work, but I wanted to choose how and when to do that.”
Flexibility has remained important for Lindley at all stages of her career. Her children are now grown, but she still enjoys the freedom to set her own schedule.
“I’m at a point in my life where my contemporaries are talking about retiring because they are waiting to start their lives. With the purpose of my work, my compensation and my flexibility, I’m just hitting my stride,” she said.
Lindley runs a thriving practice and she was recently named to the 8th annual ranking of Forbes/SHOOK Top Women Wealth Advisors Best-In-State** list.
Edward Jones’ purpose — to partner for positive impact, to improve the lives of clients and colleagues, and together, better communities and society – drives success for the firm’s more than 19,000 financial advisors. It’s also the foundation of a culture that is deeply collaborative. Experienced financial advisors, like Lindley, serve as mentors and financial advisors at all levels enjoy the support of the firm’s home office and other associates in their regions.
While Lindley appreciates the experience her start on Wall Street gave her, at Edward Jones she knows she can always put her clients first and make a difference in their lives.
“If you do this job and do it well, you’re so important to people. At Edward Jones, I truly impact people’s lives and feel valued.”
